Cops make quick capture of Naggos Head murder suspect

QUICK action by the police yesterday resulted in the capture of one of three suspects in the shooting death of a businessman in Naggos Head, St Catherine.

Police identified the dead man as Kenroy Brown, otherwise called 'Ruggu', who they said was shot multiple times in the forehead by men travelling in a grey Nissan motorcar.

The incident occurred about 11:20 am at a shop Brown operated in Naggos Head square.

Police said the gunmen then fled the scene in the vehicle, which they later abandoned in the nearby Newlands community.

According to Deputy Superintendent Barrington Daley, anti-crime officer for the St Catherine South Division, the police commenced a search of the area where they spotted the man acting suspiciously.

"He was searched, and was found with a Nissan key in his possession, and was taken back to the vehicle where the same key was used to start the car's engine," Daley told the Observer.

"It was then that he was arrested and taken away from the area," he continued.

Daley said the police are still searching for two other men who they believe contributed to the killing, and called on witnesses to come forward with information.

That plea, however, seemed to have fallen on deaf ears yesterday, as the large crowd of onlookers who gathered around while police processed Brown's blood-soaked establishment remained tight-lipped.

"People know is who killed him," muttered an elderly man near the death spot. "Some people can tell you every detail as to what happened but nobody want to say anything."

One young girl, who onlookers said was Brown's relative, cried openly at the scene.

She declined to speak with reporters.
