Musical twist for Jah Cure - Joins Mavado, Rick Ross on new single

Singer Jah Cure says he's doing things a little differently in his recent collaboration with American rapper Rick Ross and singjay Mavado, titled Like I See It.

Released on Tuesday evening, the collaboration when viewed yesterday had already got over 2,000 views on www.youtube.com. Speaking with THE STAR recently, Jah Cure explained how the collaboration came about saying, "Rick Ross has wanted to work wid me for a long time, he came to look for me the last time he was here for Beenie Man's show, so the link from Miami to here is good and the song shows a different style to Cure." Rick Ross is known for songs such as Hustlin, The Boss featuring T Pain, among others.

The song was produced by Sobe Entertainment and Jah Cure who recently turned a producer himself. According to Jah Cure, he voiced his part, sent it to Rick Ross and later added Mavado who he says he shares a mutual respect for. "The song is about the ghetto, hustling ... I've worked with Mavado before but this is my first time working with Rick Ross. The vibe was good with both," he said.

On YouTube, the song has been getting good response thus far with one person saying, "Bad tune big up Mavado, Cure, and Ross, respect, Jamaica."

According to Jah Cure upon its release on Tuesday, New York-based radio station Hot 97FM has had the collaboration in rotation as he said, "It's a good look."

sixth album

This is not the first international collaboration for Jah Cure who worked with American singers Keri Hilson for World Cry and Mary J. Blige for Each Tear. According to the singer, he will be busy for the Christmas season with a number of songs and, hopefully, the release of his sixth album also titled World Cry. He also has another collaboration in the works for his album called Choose Us with singer Jasmine Sullivan.

For Jah Cure, it has been a good time for him as he anticipates his new album. He told THE STAR, "This is gonna be my baddest album ever that Cure ever sing. I produced two songs on it too. I just want my fans to comb through my songs carefully and tell me what you think, see the advancement." World Cry will be released on the Sobe Entertainment Label.

Cure was also nominated for a 2010 Soul Train Award in the 'Best Reggae Artiste' category alongside Vybz Kartel, Damian Marley, Gyptian, Mr Vegas and Gramps Morgan. He says he is trying his best to attend the upcoming ceremony set to take place on November 10 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center.
